Quantum Chemistry on the GPUS TeraChem is a powerful general-purpose quantum chemistry package developed in our group. By exploiting graphical processing units and designing the code from the ground up to expose parallel concurrency, we are able to accelerate Hartree-Fock and DFT calculations by several orders of magnitude over CPU based programs.

Welcome to the Martinez group! We are part of the Department of Chemistry at Stanford University and the PULSE Institute located at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory . Our research is focused on developing the ability to design molecular systems with desired functions from first principles. By developing novel simulation methods, we are trying to bridge the gap between traditional molecular dynamics and quantum chemistry. SLAC, housing the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lab, the ultra-fast x-ray laser and many other resources, are close by. Our outstanding facilities and beautiful location south of San Francisco provide an exceptional environment for teaching and research.

Quantum chemistry, also called molecular quantum mechanics, is a branch of chemistry focused on the application of quantum mechanics to chemical systems. Understanding electronic structure and molecular dynamics using the Schrödinger equations are central topics in quantum chemistry. Chemists rely heavily on spectroscopy through which information regarding the quantization of energy on a molecular scale can be obtained. Common methods are infra-red spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic Se hela listan på plato.stanford.edu Office: S.G. This 9 week course aims to teach quantum mechanics to anyone with a reasonable college-level understanding of physical science or engineering. Quantum mechanics was once mostly of interest to physicists, chemists and other basic scientists. Now the concepts and techniques of quantum mechanics are essential in many areas of engineering and science such as materials science, nanotechnology, electronic devices, and photonics. Stanford chemists are advancing models and computational techniques that allow unprecedented atomistic simulations of molecular behavior, from the simplest of atomic species to molecular dynamics in complex living systems. Summary After twenty-four years in print, Don McQuarrie has now updated his landmark "Quantum Chemistry".
